Alliums – limited edition linocut print
Limited edition of 50.
This allium print is inspired by my love of nature and celebrates these pompom-headed perennials. I drew, carved and printed the image on Somerset Satin 300gsm paper using Hawthorn pale indigo ink. The paper measures 10x15cm including four deckled edges. The print itself measures 6.5x10cm. Each print is titled, numbered and signed by me.
Alliums are thought to symbolise unity, patience, prosperity and abundance. They are often used for good luck and could scare away a vampire or two since they’re members of the garlic family.
They are one of the oldest cultivated plants and considered a symbol of the universe by the ancient Egyptians. Mainly I just love their pompom heads!
Printmaking with lino is a manual craft that requires specialist tools and inks. The nature of the process means that each print is unique and may feature some speckling in the ink. This is part of what makes this artform so beautiful. Please note there may be slight variations from the print in the photo.
This is an unframed lino print and I will send it to you in a compostable protective sleeve backed with card and a board-backed envelope to keep it sturdy and ready to frame or give as a gift.
