Every notebook, journal and sketchbook is built from scratch, with some featuring original linocut prints.
Handprinted gingko tree notebook
Handmade 10.5x16cm notebook featuring 176 pages in a mix of lined and plain paper and a rounded spine.
The cover features an original linocut print of a Gingko tree, drawn, carved and printed by me on BK Rives paper in Prussian blue ink. This is soft, cotton, slightly textured paper made by the Arches mill in France. The endpapers inside the book feature another original linoprint of falling ginkgo leaves printed in Cranfield traditional copper ink. The spine and back are lined with a navy blue book cloth. Inside, the endpapers are made with GF Smith Colorplan Loch Blue and the paper is made from a combination of 90gsm and 120gsm Munken Pure – Smooth Ivory. It includes a pale pink ribbon.
Printmaking with lino is a manual craft that requires specialist tools and inks. The nature of the process means that each print is unique and may feature some speckling. This is part of what makes this artform so beautiful.
I make every notebook by hand, from folding and sewing the internal papers together to make the 'text block' through to selecting and cutting papers and book cloth, which I then use to build the final covers. Each notebook is unique and there may be slight variations from the book shown in photos. However, the photos do show each key aspect of the book to help you see what you are buying.
I only make a handful of notebooks at a time so if this is out of stock I will get in touch to discuss making one for you. This will increase the delivery time as the book takes a few days to construct, the glue to dry and the book to press flat.
All notebooks are posted in a protective book envelope.
